    About the size of a U.S. Half Dollar
    The coin commemorates the 50
    th
    anniversary of the forming of the Soviet Union in 1917.  The Obverse features
    Lenin
    in Bas-relief with an outstretched upward reaching arm and behind him a giant hammer and sickle, the symbol of the Soviet Union, along with the ?CCCP? above which is the Soviet Star.  The years 1917-1967 are not on the face of the coin but can be found on the engraved rim. The coin is of nickel/copper and is very slightly larger than a US half dollar. The reverse features the typical Soviet Union symbol and indicates in Russian One Ruble. This coin is now somewhat scarce because at the fall of the Soviet Union, in 1991, all things that bore the image of Lenin tended to be destroyed. It is anyone?s guess how many of this coins still remain in existence
