[zipedit](2) Western Digital Caviar SE 7200rpm 250gb WD2500AAJS-75B4A0 Hard Drive (A0762)
Pulled from working computers. The hard drives are tested with Hard Drive Sentinel Pro 5.70 or 6.01.
Here is the complete sequence that I do:
1. Remove all partitions and re-partition as one partition and format to either NTFS or FAT32 depending on the drive.
2. Run Hard Drive Sentinel Pro Write and Read test. If any drive is below 99% Health, I scrap it.
3. After the Write and Read test, I again partition the drive and copy a folder to the drive and then do a Shift/DEL to permanently delete the folder and file from the drive.
4. I disconnect and remove the drive from the USB host.
5. I again connect it to the USB host to make sure it will re-connect on its own in "This PC" under Windows 10.
6. I then disconnect it and get it ready for eBay sales.
I post this because I have bought many drives on eBay over the years and all I've ever seen is "tested" or "tested by our skilled technicians." Well great. That really does not tell me much in HOW they were tested. You may or may not agree with how I tested mine but at least you know what I did. I am also posting the screen that I use to determine the condition of the drive and then the TEMP/TRANSFER SPEED screen. On some of the older drives, the temperature does not show. Bottom right center will show the Health of the drive (99% or 100%). Near the top of the screen will have the drive model and serial numbers. These will match on the drives that you are buying on each sale. I hope all this information helps. I appreciate any feedback through eBay messages. Mike. Firesteel Surplus.
Note: On some drives, specifically the WD200 and WD400, the last digit of the serial number is cut off in Hard Drive Sentinel. This just happens with certain models.
