Baueda -Dismounted Frankish Milites
Summary: Set of unpainted miniatures suitable for various games.
Baueda is a developer of high quality tabletop wargame accessories and miniatures.
After the death of Emperor Louis the Pious his sons divided the Carolingian Empire of the Franks into East, West, and Middle Kingdoms by the Verdun treaty. The eastern half of the Frankish empire was called East Francia (Regnum Francorum orientalium), also known as the Kingdom of the East Franks or Francia Orientalis. All parts remained under the rule of the Carolingian dynasty with Louis' eldest son Lothair I (795-855) retaining the Imperial title, but Carolingian rule was relatively brief before a High-German-speaking Teutonic ruling class was established. Around 900, East Francia saw the reemergence of autonomous stem duchies (Franconia, Bavaria, Swabia, Saxony and Lotharingia). After the Carolingian king Louis the Child died without issue in 911, East Francia did not turn to the Carolingian ruler of West Francia to take over the realm but elected one of the dukes, Conrad of Franconia, as Rex Francorum Orientalum. It was the precursor of the Holy Roman Empire and eventually evolved into modern Germany.
Despite its name a Frankish "knight" would spend quite a bit of his time fighting on foot!
