Badge Officer's shooting courses are a badge that was included in the field of awards, because the right to wear insignia was given only to those who had successfully completed the full course of studies. Some of the rewarded awards were awarded for obtaining the first class. It was necessary to wear a sign on the right side of the chest under other academic awards.
Officer rifle courses were opened on July 25, 1908, although the seniority in them was registered since 1826. This military-educational institution is designed to upgrade the skills of infantry officers, as well as their preparation for obtaining command posts. The courses were in the now famous building of St. Petersburg - Oranienbaum. The holiday of the courses was celebrated on September 8. If initially there was only an officer's rifle school located in Oranienbaum, however, it did not provide any service advantages and did not serve as a pretext for promotion. Development courses were received only at the end of the Japanese war, when it became obvious the need to upgrade the skills of career officers.
The term of study at the courses was 7 months and passed from February 1 to September 1. The staff numbered 167 people. To practice in the courses, a special rifle company was created, whereas for practical training, an artillery battery, a cavalry squadron and a couple of infantry battalions were constantly attached to them. There was an own weapons workshop, a weapons training ground, a fencing and gymnasium, a shooting gallery, a weapons museum and a ballistic cabinet.
