    Description

    Title:
    Antique Railroad Lantern
    Description:
Presented for your consideration is this antique railroad lantern. The lantern has an all metal base and top with a cage around the clear glass globe. The top of the lantern is marked with "Handlan St. Louis U.S.A." in slightly raised lettering. This marking is also on the bottom. In the center of the top is the Pennsylvania Railroad insignia. The lantern has a clear glass globe which is etched with the Pennsylvania railroad insignia on one side and on the opposite side it is marked with "CNX Made in U.S.A." The burner is intact and the adjusting knob moves but could use some lubrication to get it turning smoother. The lantern is completed with a large stationary handle. As previously stated the lantern bares the Pennsylvania Railroad reporting mark on the globe.
The Pennsylvania Railroad was in operation from 1846-1968 and was an American Class 1 railroad headquartered in Philadelphia. During the 1st half of the 20th century they were the largest railroad by traffic and revenue. In 1968 they merged with NYC which filed bankruptcy two years later. The lantern is guaranteed to be antique and
would make a great addition to any railroad memorabilia or lantern collection!
Light bending is around the top of the lantern. No chips or cracks in the globe. Typical wear from age and use. Overall in VERY GOOD condition. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details.
Measures 7 1/4" in diameter at the widest point and 15 1/4" tall including the handle.
