    Description

Offered is a vintage piece of

    ,
an OREGON SHORT LINE Railroad Lantern with a Clear Extended Base Lantern Globe.
The lantern frame is an Adams & Westlake “THE ADAMS,” double wire guard, large insert, drop-in fount model and is embossed on the shoulder in large letters “OSL.”
It has a last patent date of 1897. The frame is in very good condition for its age, clean metal, stands straight, no loose solder joints, and has no major dents, bent, broken or missing parts. This is a vintage used item and as such may show wear, small areas of rust, pitting etc. There is a solder repair to the bottom of the lantern that was done long ago (see photos). It comes with a correct threaded large insert fuel fount and P&A (Plum & Atwood) brass burner. There appears to be an old solder repair on the burner. I don’t see any holes in the fount, but it has not been tested. The wick easily moves up and down when the adjuster is turned.
The Clear Extended Base Lantern Globe is a short transition style and fits perfectly in the frame.
The globe is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, cloudiness, or scratches. The globe has no markings. There may be some minor nicks on the rims from use that don’t show when seated in a lantern frame.
The Oregon Short Line was a United States Class I Railroad that began operations in 1882 as a subsidiary of the Union Pacific Railroad. It operated in the states of Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon. It was fully absorbed into the Union Pacific in 1936.
