Soviet partisans (Soviet Resistance Movement) - an integral part of the anti-fascist Resistance movement, which fought by the methods of guerrilla wars with Germany and its allies in those occupied territories of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War. The movement was coordinated and controlled by the Soviet authorities and was developed on the model of the Red Army. The main objective of the guerrilla war was the destruction of the front support system — disruption of communications and communications, the operation of its automobile and railway communications (the so-called Rail War), etc.
In total, in 1941-1944, 6,200 partisan detachments and formations operated in the occupied territory of the USSR; the number of partisans and underground members is estimated at 1 million people.
