    Description

This cast iron plaque was originally made between 1946-1956 because it depicts the Soviet Union's coat of arms with 16 ribbons. This was only for tens years so they were not made for a long time.
It is 7 1/2" in diameter and weighs a lot!
These cast iron plaques were attached to the front of trains in the middle of the larger red star.  Please see the pictures.  Compared to the Red Star and the train, these look very small but they are significant as it has 16 ribbons.  Very rare as many of these were just put in the garbage after the collapse of the Soviet Union and after the coat of arms switched to 15 ribbons.  These ribbons signified the number of Soviet Republics something like the stars on the American flag signifying each state.  Very old, very rare and very collectible.  There are many Soviet train plaques on Ebay but see how many there are with 16 ribbons. This would be a great addition to anybody's Soviet collection.
