    Description

    Offering a (lot of 4), 5/8”in diameter Maritime Commission Prong Stem Hat Buttons. Enough for two hats! The early prong stem buttons where used on the sides of the hat to attach the chin strap to the hat.
    The Maritime Commission was established in 1938 under the Coast Guard to train Officers, and members of the Merchant Marines. These chin strap buttons are rare early NOS (New Old Stock)
    Measurements: button 5/8” in diameter prongs around 3/4”
    The back of the buttons have Cadmium & No Rust on them. (I think I don’t see so good anymore.) Was family members! Circa late 1930’s to early 1940’s.
