"Ready for Labor and Defense of the USSR" "Be Ready for Labor and Defense of the USSR" is a program of physical culture training in general, professional and sports organizations of the USSR, which is fundamental in a unified and state-supported system of patriotic education of youth.
The complex "Ready for Labor and Defense of the USSR" was approved by the resolution of the All-Union Council of Physical Culture (VSFC) at the Central Executive Committee of the USSR on March 11, 1931. It included one stage, in which there were three age groups, in order to receive the badge, it was necessary to pass tests in 21 types of exercises. In 1932, the VSFC introduced the second stage with the same three age groups, but higher standards and 24 types of exercises. In 1934, the stage “Be ready for labor and defense of the USSR” (BSTO) was introduced with two age groups: 13-14 and 15-16 years. These three stages - BSTO, TRP-I and TRP-II - existed until 1972. The standards and requirements of the TRP complex changed in 1939, 1946, 1954, 1959 and 1972. Before the Great Patriotic War, military-applied types of exercises were introduced into the TRP complex, for example, crawling, carrying a cartridge box. The complex "Ready for Labor and Defense of the USSR" helped the Soviet people in the fight against Nazism. Hero of the Soviet Union Nikolai Kopylov spoke on this topic like this: "If I hadn't been an athlete, a TRP badge, I would hardly have reached Berlin!"
The last all-Union physical culture complex of the TRP was approved by the decree of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the Council of Ministers of the USSR on January 17, 1972, No. 61. It had 5 age levels (each had its own standards and requirements): I stage - "Brave and dexterous" - 10-11 and 12-13 years old, II - "Sports change" - 14-15 years old, III - "Strength and courage" - 16-18 years old, IV - "Physical perfection" - men 19-28 and 29-39 years old, women 19- 28 and 29-34 years old, V - "Vigor and health" - men 40-60 years old, women 35-55 years old. By 1981, the "Ready to start" stage was introduced into the TRP complex for children 7-9 years old. Although from a legal point of view, the last RLD complex remains valid (with a slight change in 1988), at present, different methods of physical training and its assessment are used in different educational institutions.
