There is just something about sunflowers that makes me smile. . .maybe they remind me that autumn is coming and it is a time for pumpkin bread and all the goodness of fall. . .this 8" penny rug is so cute and done in a home spun primitive look. . .the design is the old fashioned style of "penny coins" . . .this is where "coins" are stitched to the center . . .very old fashioned. . .the space in the center is best for a votive or small jar display . . .makes a thoughtful hostess gift paired with a little glass jar or tin of autumn treats .  .  .the center is a nice home spun green that I have hand appliqued onto an ivory felted wool felt . . .this color is called "fresh linen" . . .this sits on a really pretty green background and then center circle is backed with this green . . .there are ten double layered coins in the same green . . .each is topped with a double layered sunflower in a gold felted wool felt . . .I have decoratively hand stitched them to give them a more dimensional look vs a flat look. . .the centers are milk chocolate brown felted wool felt and I have hand stitched "seeds" into the center in the same brown to give even more of a three dimensional look. . .very cute mat. . .PLEASE NOTE:  the candle display in one of my pictures is NOT included and listing is for penny rug only. . .beautiful quality handmade item. . .my own design and done entirely by hand by me. . .please see my excellent feedback for penny rugs and quilts - many wonderful and LOVED repeat buyers who keep me stitching
